#49 bowfin

Cheezin harrrd for this dino lifer

#ftlotf fast fact- bowfin live so so long with the longest recorded living 33 years! Older than me!

the male is all green on his cute belly! The photo doesn't do it justice. He is trying to attract all the cute dino girlies this time of year

These lunkers evolved during the Jurassic period 🦖 wondering why they didn't have their own exhibit in Jurassic Park?? 👀

the bowfin is an air-breathing species that must return to the surface periodically to take in oxygen. He's got a cute big swim bladder for his air that runs the entire course of his body

Moms bowfin fast fact: it is believed that bowfin rely as much on their scent as they do their sight! That's why they like cut creek chub from Gaylords so much

bowfin prefer swampy stinky areas which made this spot ideal🐸

Mark and I doubled up with the creek chub bait except his was a little harder to get the hook out. Thank goodness we brought pliers!

We went back to this spot a couple times before we got the good bowfin. Apparently they are real night owls and start partying as soon as the sun goes down
